Last month, Barack Obama spoke in New York to clients of Northern Trust Corp. for about $400,000, a person familiar with his appearance said.

Last week, he reminisced about the White House for Carlyle Group LP, one of the world’s biggest private equity firms, according to two people who were there.

Next week, he’ll give a keynote speech at investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald LP’s health-care conference.

Mr Obama is reported to have received the fee for delivering a lecture to clients of asset manager Northern Trust Corporation in New York in September.

This month he will take home another $400,000 for speaking to investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald, according to Bloomberg News.

The firm’s CEO, Howard Lutnick said: "Everybody would like to come. Hopefully, we will really talk about the Affordable Care Act in interesting and nuanced ways, which I think is really cool."

Fox Business reported in April about Obama’s upcoming speeches. Another spokesman told FBN that Obama—as a candidate—pulled in more money than any candidate in history, and went on to “implement the toughest reforms on Wall Street since FDR.”

In 2009, Obama famously lashed out at bankers, calling them “fat cats” who don’t get it.

马上学

Fat cats(有权优势的人),尤指政府官僚,贬义。

Kevin Lewis, a spokesman for Mr Obama, told Bloomberg News that since leaving office, he had given speeches “true to his values.”

“His paid speeches in part have allowed President Obama to contribute $2m to Chicago programmes offering job training and employment opportunities to low-income youth,” Mr Lewis said.

Since 2009, POLITICO has found, Bush has given at least 200 paid speeches and probably many more, typically pocketing $100,000 to $175,000 per appearance. The part-time work, which rarely requires more than an hour on stage, has earned him tens of millions of dollars.

Bill Clinton delivered the first of hundreds of high-paying speeches on February 5, 2001, less than three weeks after he left the presidency, talking to Morgan Stanley in New York for $125,000. The firm got a bargain. Bill eventually raised his average rate to roughly $225,000 per speech, in some cases charging $500,000, according to disclosure documents Hillary filed as a senator and cabinet member.

The former president also made a fortune writing books. In 2004, he published his memoir My Life, which became a No. 1 New York Times bestseller.

Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, combined to earn more than $153 million in paid speeches from 2001 until Hillary Clinton launched her presidential campaign last spring, a CNN analysis shows.

In total, the two gave 729 speeches from February 2001 until May, receiving an average payday of $210,795 for each address.
